The Best Place to visit during this Pandemic: The self
These days are difficult, let's be easy on ourselves.
These days are truly horrid. The newspaper is overcrowded with the death rates and active cases of the Coronavirus. The first news we get through media channels is ‘this many cases reported and this many deaths in last the 24 hours. Moreover, whenever the phone rings we pray it is not what we think it is. It is hard to keep up in such an environment, hard to be positive amidst such negativity.
I have chosen not to read or watch what I cannot handle. I am a little extra sensitive when it comes to such information. A day before yesterday, I cried over Kobe Bryant’s and his daughter’s pictures, I don't even know why. Adding on, I visualise images in my head quite comfortably. It is hard for me to read about the floating bodies in Ganga and not imagine the scene. Hence, I have decided not to look up to the news, creating a panic situation within me.
Yes, we have only one life and we have to make a difference.
But it is not necessary to make it at this hour. If you can, bravo, if you
cannot even then it is not a problem. Everyone is working on their own level. (Even
Modi Ji has worked on his acting skills...)
We all should kick out anything under the sun that is getting in the way of our mental peace. These are unprecedented times where we cannot control everything. Since, you cannot meet anybody else, meet yourself. Identifying and taking care of your inner self is as vital as keeping up with physical health. “Of all the people on the planet, you talk to yourself more than anyone. Make sure you are saying the right things.” I read this on social media and I was convinced to add it to this piece.
There is an ominous knock on your door and it is your decision whether to open the door or not. I chose not to open the door until or unless the situation is under control. On the other hand, I have chosen to open doors for introspection. Since, we are facing a deadly virus, note Jerry Bruckner’s words,
“Your negative self-talk is like a virus that infects your self-esteem and self-confidence.”
